About me

Having recently completed an MA in The History of Film and The Visual Media, I am looking for an entry level job in the media. As shown in my CV, I have worked hard throughout my working and educational life to pursue my love of the media and find ways to combine this with work. Going straight into an MA after completing my undergraduate Journalism degree, shows that I am a hard, independent worker and means I have good written, research and analytical skills.

At the moment I work as a freelance journalist, both for my personal blog (*) and also for Film magazine Gorrilla and in the past have written both film and music reviews and articles for various publications including Sweet and Sound, Idol and award winning student magazine Quench. This means I have developed good research, interviewing and an original writing style.
I also work part time for the Curzon Cinemas, both as a front-of-house staff member at their cinema in Soho and also for their head office, employed as a programme testers for their new online streaming Curzon on Demand service. This has given me a good insight into working in the film industry - both in an art venue (with basic event management experience) and also in the business side of the industry.

I also have PR, administrative and further journalistic experience from an internship I took with Sight and Sound earlier this year. My role included working alongside film distribution companies, collecting press releases and supporting material for the films we were covering. As well as this I worked closely with the Website Editor, helping to maintain the magazine's online presence through their website and social network accounts.
Finally, I have also had experience in the practical side of media. In terms of television, I took a placement with the BBC when I shadowed the political correspondent Mark Mardell in their studio in Brussels. I was also Head of Music for CUTV, the online television station at Cardiff University. The role required me to plan and devise short music programmes, overseeing the pre and post production of them, as well as getting involved onscreen by interviewing visiting bands. I also have experience in the radio from hosting a specialist music radio show with my twin sister for two years.

I have good IT and organisational skills and can speak french at a conversational level having grown up in Brussels. I am a peoples person, who works best in teams. I am a creative and hard working individual, who is searching for a full-time entry level working opportunity. Please feel free to contact me via phone, email or post.
