As part of my placement with Meld Studios, where most of the work cannot be presented due to confidentiality reasons, I was encouraged to take forward a self-initiated project.
For this I chose to explore the experience of people with visual impairment (VIs) while commuting, in this case specifically, through Melbourne. The outcome was a current state journey map that lays out pain points and highlights during a commute as well as explores influencing factors when building confidence in commuting without or limited vision. This is a basis on which to explore how cities may better adapt to the needs of VIs and how VIs may be better prepared for general commuting.
