ABOUT

Following on from the previous brand film I directed in 2018, I was approached directly by the CEO of dragonfly Scooters during lockdown to create a new brand film for the redesigned d-fly scooter. Without a full film shoot and post-production team this would require me to work in a completely new way. I was now creative director, director and editor of the project and I would need to facility its entire production and post-production remotely. The concept devised was therefore based around the use of stock footage. Dragonfly wanted to make connections with the product to the environment so I began by sourcing stock of various locations. They were able to send me some phone video of the product but this was shot handheld and portrait so had limited use.

Working with a copywriter we devised a concept based around 4 bold statements to connect the product with urban and also wider terrain within the planet.
The idea was to create a series of fast moving POV travelling shots cut tightly to music with subliminal connections to nature, oceans, adrenalin sports and fashion.
I used graphic animations to illustrate the 4 tag lines. Each of the tag lines utilise a dual meaning, they describe a feature of the scooter itself, while, at the same time, an aspect of the experience of riding it. The product shots were created from rebuilding the phone footage and 2d compositing of high res stills.
