ABOUT

To produce an identity, a site, a monographic catalog and its packaging for the south korean sculptress Byun Sook-Kyung.

The book celebrated the long artistic career of the sculptress and her last experimentation with a new material: marble. The book cover, the angular stone of the project, was designed following this principle.

It has been printed on Forex and carved with an Arizona printing machine. The lines follow the matrix of her own style based on plates of metal or stone placed over a solid and geometrical structure.

Due to the different tilts of the plates, the final result resembles a broken mirror in a moment suspended in time: a cristallized ephemera where the shards are about to scatter but are still in place.

In coincidence with the publishing of the book, three different art exhibitions (Pietrasanta: council and Petrarte showrooms; Florence) had been scheduled.

We needed a reusable tool to promote and illustrate all of them. That's why I designed a leaflet crafted as an origami.

It was another broken surface: facets of paper, shards able to create shapes and to elude them.

The leaflet was thought in two different versions: the first one included a business card; the second included on its stead a coupon showing the informations (dates, opening hours, etc) about the three different exhibits.

Plus, some Forex vernissage invitations had been realized for selected customers.

The last step of the project consisted in realizing a packaging able to include the book and the leaflet in a single bundle.

Its outer graphic had been thought to pair the one of the book cover.
In the end we have the visual feeling of two differents moments: "before" and "after", the artist and her creation, her own artistic intervention over reality.

The project had been completed by a temporary landing page as a digital invitation, providing all the links to the artist's social accounts and to the pictures, videos and informations related to the book and the exhibitions.
