ABOUT
Type: Contract Publication
Frequency: One off
Task: I had worked on a few of the previous issue’s of this amazing magazine, but was given the brief to art direct issue5. But the timing was appalling, the financial markets crashed, and as a luxury client they wanted out, but had to produce one more issue. The photography budget was slashed by an eye-watering £30K from the launch issue, but they insisted on the same quality of work. The theme for the issue was British seaside/country holidays. I convinced the client to move away from the dark, sultry photography of the previous issues to make it more feminine, making it light and bold. Working with photographer Jonathan Gregson and stylist Annie Nichols the cover’s use of melting ice cream and conch shell worked brilliantly to convey this.
