Over the past two years since graduating from University I have been involved in a number of self initiated projects that I feel have helped develop my skill set. During my third year of Uni I was awarded £5000 to start a business after submitting a detailed

business plan and pitching the idea to over 200 business professionals. The concept was to develop an online portfolio system which would host designer's portfolios, enabling them to get their work online easily. To aid the development of the business, I successfully pitched the idea to two local business funding charities. They both accepted my application and awarded me £12,000 in interest free start up loans. Launching a business in the digital space has meant that I have developed my skills in email marketing, social media management and how to track ROI as well as managing the monetary issues and general administration associated with running a business. It has also allowed me to

gain a good grasp of the financial issues that are involved with running a small business. I prepared all the financial accounts for the business and completed company returns and end of year accounts. During the setting up of the business I had to complete profit and loss forecast as well as formulating return of investment time for our investors. In February 2011 I launched Email Inspiration which is an email newsletter which sends designinspiration to over 6300 people daily. This app has grown significantly in seven months with no money spent on marketing, just well versed social media and forming relationships with well regarded bloggers in the space. I have experience in preparing design work for print and web as well as project managing outside agencies to complete task.
