Walsall Arboretum commissioned several illustrations and design work for there new Troll Trail. They had 7 trolls made to be placed around the park and they required illustrations of the trolls and a bespoke map and trail guide to be produced.

The seven illustrations needed to resemble to finished trolls and the map had to be clear to understand and engaging.

I decided to draw everything by hand to begin before moving to the computer to render all the images and add colour. The benefits of working this way allowed me to draw the concepts and scamps infant of the client before moving to the computer to render and colour the images.

The finished designs were required for print and social media, therefore the decision to turn the trolls into vector graphics was important as they wanted to print very large images of the trolls.

The map is an ongoing project and will eventually become the official park map covering not only the Victorian centre but the ret of the park as well.
