About me
Hello, I'm Mary-Lou (Lou) , a curious mind returning to a passion I placed on the shelf for far too long.
Creativity has always felt like freedom to me. Freedom to express. Freedom to challenge narratives. Freedom to tell stories that spark something universal in us all.
For years, I chose paths that felt safe and predictable & if I'm honest, out of fear. But in a very uncliché way, I've decided to stop living cautiously and start living authentically. I'm returning to basics. Returning to myself.
I'm drawn to ideas that challenge perspectives and evoke real emotion. Life can be hard and heavy, but humour is sacred to me, it softens edges, builds connection and reminds us not to take everything so seriously. I look for joy in everyday situations. I laugh often.
I explored marketing in my early twenties, but what I bring now is different. Life has seasoned me. Countless conversations with people from all walks of life have given me the ability to listen deeply and retell stories with nuance, empathy and relatability.
My background in client-facing roles has allowed me to connect with almost anyone. I've bonded with people from completely different backgrounds to mine. I wouldn't say I just love people, it's deeper than that. I love their stories. I have conversations on the tube, in cafe's, parks whilst my children are playing, different perspectives fascinates me.
I'm also a mum, and one of the biggest reasons I'm stepping back into creativity is to show my children that authenticity is everything. That it's okay to pivot. That fear doesn't get the final say. That who you truly are is always worth returning to.
I may have taken a break from the creative space, but I come back well-rounded, self-aware, extremely teachable and rich in lived experience.
This isn't a reinvention.
It's a return.
