Mary Lewens BPSS-Cleared Content Designer

ABOUT

An iterative project to create a superior prospect sales destination for improved conversion.
I collaborated with the technical lead, developer team and UX design to create pods, and populate them according to approved UX design. I'd hand back to devs for preview rendering, when I refined the content to be ready for review and sign off.

*Challenges included:*

- A CMS which didn't have a locking system to ensure only 1 named person was in a pod/component at a time. The signposting for the preview and production versions of each component were quite subtle and easy to miss.

- All content needed to work with a responsive design - only one space per image. The choice of images could be limited - some could be poor quality or from low priority shows. Often the ideal shows could not work within the space.

- The hero needed to showcase content from the basepack only and fit around the proposition, price, legal line and channel logo /show title. At one point there was not enough space for a show with a long title, sometimes limiting our choice even further!

- It meant that the base pack pod itself needed to be a box photo rather than TV content or it would be confusing (which led to challenges for sharing with other customer journeys).

- The challenges for the smaller images were making sure they fit responsive designs in this area - but also the sales pods in existing customer areas. The spaces were very small and challenging for shows, particularly with multiple stars, who all needed to be in view. The function existed to have separate images for the same proposition for various customer journeys, but I avoided it where possible for the sake of keeping track of content for update maintenance.

- There was very little space for copy so economy was needed and I'd agree on what could fit with the PO and often stakeholders - and it had to be consistent with other touchpoints.

- Legal content for each proposition often had to be different to the same proposition in existing customer sales areas. Development provided a solution for this but at times I'd need to experiment with what was requested, against what was possible and after discussion with PO and developer, what needed development.

- Preview environments could be unstable and sometimes the ones that did work were pointed to production for the purposes of testing a new release. I tended to go to testers to ask for a working one to be pointed to preview. But screenshots were my friend - and I needed to provide desktop and mobile for stakeholders.

- For the orange sales highlights, I needed to be careful with the length of copy. If they were too long, they would overlap images in mobile view, which obviously didn't look good, and could mean a complaint from the show's marketing dept, particularly if a star was obscured.

- A system for batch content releases was set up - but if the approval box wasn't ticked for one piece of content, it prevented the whole batch from being published - and there was no highlighting system to show what the problematic component was to rectify quickly.

- Each product pod showcases a current show, with a pop up for each, showcasing the channels or service included.
- Content to highlight offers.
- FAQs for further information.
