ABOUT

ROJA Parfums is a luxurious fragrance house based in the UK, created by Roja Dove.

Elysium is one of the extended collection's Eau de Parfums, and I was asked to produce an image for advertising that would be used in print and digital.

CONCEPT
Starting from the word Elysium, which has always been associated with something utopic and futuristic, I wanted to create a background that would be dynamic but hard to define.
For that reason, very early on in the creative process, I’ve decided not to use any immediately recognizable materials like stone, wood, or metal.
Since this Eau de Parfum is for men, I also felt that some strong straight lines would be adequate.

COLOR PALETTE
The perfume bottle is blue but during some test shoots, as sometimes happens, light wanted to tell a different story with reflections of green.
As a result, the background becomes a diverse mix of blues and greens that, when combined with the golden cap, create an interesting color scheme.

POINT OF VIEW
In keeping with the idea of a fictional world, the choice was to have the fragrance floating above the background as if it entered the frame from below and was calmly moving up and away.

LIGHT
To achieve the reflections of the glass and give each face of the background a different light appearance, I've used a strong and very directional light, yet slightly soft.
A bit of fill light to keep the shadows from being completely black and controlling the reflections of the cap was all the extra needed.

FINAL
The client was really pleased with the outcome, and the image was recently used in two magazines as well as at Selfridges in London.

The concept, styling, photography, and retouch were all done by the studio.
