About me
David Martin Johnstone, 38, was born in Moseley in Birmingham in the UK. His father was a teacher and his mother a nurse. He moved with his mother to Queens, NY in 1973 and the to Miami in 1984. After starting a film degree at the School of Visual Arts, he became a floor broker at the New York Cotton Exchange before moving to Chase Manhattan bank to trade derivatives. In 5 years on Wall Street he worked for two more banks (CIBC and CBA) in both New York and London.
Essentially he has been in the ideas business for 18 years. As a result, before he wrote The Peper Bicycle, he ran design at Orange PCS and became a freelance startegist for various brands anyone would recognise. He studied Internet marketing at Thunder Lizard and Stanford. At Orange he ran a creative team at the studio in Birmingham, supporting brands and designing customers' experiences. He is currently re-writing his third novel. For the fourth time.
