ABOUT

A conceptual key art redesign for Netflix's upcoming Polish series Lalka, based on Bolesław Prus's classic novel.

Most adaptations of period literature default to the same visual shorthand — a costume, a moody street, a title in serif type. This redesign starts somewhere else: with the book's central idea. Lalka isn't a love story, it's a study in control — of Wokulski by his own obsession, by Izabela, by a society that never lets him forget where he came from. The poster had to say that before it said anything else.

Two hands rest on his shoulders. Nothing is hidden, nothing is explained. The gesture does the work a tagline usually has to do.

The key art was tested across square, vertical, and horizontal formats, then pushed into a full out-of-home campaign simulation — citylights, building facades, subway platforms, phone screens — to see whether the composition holds up outside a single frame. It does.

This is an unofficial, fan-made concept project. Not affiliated with Netflix
