ABOUT

Each student had to select a literary work of public domain that they would like to create a new edition of. I have always find designs with more than one “possible vision” very attractive and I thought that a story that would artistically fit well would be “The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde”. This is an effect that I find particularly captivating due to the fact that there is one image that we can perceive in two completely different ways which brings a certain duality to the artwork. This would also connect with the main character in the story, Dr. Jekyll, who shows a double personality. Using both with type and imagery, the blue lens would represent Dr. Jekyll’s side as he is a good person and blue is often associated with calm and comforting feelings; the red lens would show Mr. Hyde, since he is the embodiment of all the dark feelings and rage, and red is also associated with anger and aggressiveness.
