On occasions I have driven past the Port Talbot Steelworks, inclined to pull over and take some photographs, but never actually doing so. On this occasion I was with a fellow artist and photographer, and so the encouragement was there and I found myself taking the slip road off the motorway and the road towards the steelworks. It was a misty day, a gloomy one. The steam rising from the chimneys and the dark shapes against the sky created a feeling reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries.
