About me

Mark Waddell is an imaginative
and stimulating writer who has worked in diverse environments.

Most recently he edited and
co-wrote Access Toolkit: making outdoor arts events accessible to
all, an Independent Street Arts Network
publication, which aims to open up such events to Deaf and disabled
audiences.
He has also copy-written for
3DTwin's limited edition book Extraordinary Portraits for
Extraordinary People, a marketing tool to
generate exclusive commissions of life-size, three-dimensional
portraits.
In the past Mark worked as a
freelance arts journalist for The Scotsman and Herald newspapers and
has written fiction. An excerpt of one of
his novels, Lizard Luck, was published
in Latitude - Writing from The Philippines and
Scotland. He
also took part as a creative writer on Syzygy, a Londonfieldworks new-technology arts project on Sanda Island,
off the coast of Scotland, culminating in a book published by Black
Dog.
Before concentrating on writing,
Mark was a cultural producer and programmer responsible for many
innovative, high-profile arts programmes at venues including the Centre
for Contemporary Arts (CCA), Glasgow and Ferens Art Gallery,
Hull. He possesses a deep understanding
of the creative process and a natural flair to manage all aspects of a
project, whilst simultaneously inspiring and motivating teams.

More recently Mark has worked as
an Advocate to actors with learning disabilities on Spare Tyre's
assisted employment scheme. He was also the marketing officer for
Graeae's disabled-led touring theatre show.
Mark Waddell is a personable,
hard-working and flexible individual with a range of highly
transferrable skills.
