ABOUT

Tuberculosis is the world’s deadliest infectious disease, killing about 1.5 million people a year.
Despite death tolls growing, the world never paid TB much attention. World leaders at the United Nations finally acknowledged the scale and impact of TB, and promised to put more funding into research, treatments, and preventative care. Today, the only thing we’ve seen has been an increase in deaths. In fact, each day the problem is ignored, we lose more than 4,000 people to TB.

The idea:
We decided to put TB back on the global agenda ourselves. We took our message straight to world leaders and decision-makers themselves, calling them out for their failed promises, and opening their eyes to the pain and suffering of its own TB victims – the very people they pledged to try and protect.

Action taken;
A hand-created crisp handkerchief was prepared to be mailed to decision-makers. The bloody
shame of their unmet pledges was revealed upon opening. Our efforts also took off on web. We created a site opening the doors for millions of people to express their concern. Visitors simply initialed a prewritten letter and hit send. For every 1 email sent, about 400 inboxes belonging to members of the UN and health ministries, were infiltrated worldwide. To continue spreading our message, we used social media and outdoors spaces to encourage the community to help us hold the world accountable, and end TB once and for all.
