ABOUT

Ambre Antique, a mythical fragrance

In 1905, Ambre Antique revolutionized and defined the modern amber olfactive family.

120 years later, INFINIMENT COTY PARIS pays tribute to this legacy by orchestrating its rebirth, staying true to its original spirit and formula.

I had the pleasure and privilege of bringing this mythical fragrance to life through my visuals.

Smelling Ambre Antique for the very first time was an almost mystical experience. As the first amber fragrance in history, I was deeply intrigued and fascinated by the olfactory archaeology work required to recreate the perfume exactly as it was conceived over 120 years ago. This investigation was conducted with goldsmith-like precision; it was therefore a true challenge for me to imagine and illustrate it with the highest possible accuracy.

The story behind Ambre Antique immediately resonated with me. Being passionate about mythology and art history, it was natural for me to immerse myself in the roots of this narrative, driven by the desire to give it the contemporary storytelling it deserves.
Abstract and futuristic illustrations

Two core pillars needed to be personified: the heroine and the ingredients—vanillin, bergamot, and above all, AMBREIN S, the mysterious ingredient discovered following a laboratory accident.

The heroine belongs to no specific era; she transcends time. I designed her jewelry and clothing by drawing inspiration from Antiquity while evoking the future. Her gaze is intense, her posture powerful, and her golden hue directly recalls the Ambre Antique. Around her eye, she wears a singular piece of jewelry that mirrors the rounded archways characteristic of INFINIMENT COTY PARIS. This arch acts as a portal through which we step to discover the ingredients.

The challenge for the ingredients was quite different: it required embodying scents that correspond to nothing visually known. I had to entirely imagine them based on their olfactive and scientific properties. Bergamot is a fresh, liquid ingredient with pulpy fruit, so I depicted it as a rushing river with subtle touches of pulp. Vanillin crystallizes, which led me to embody it through abstract crystal formations. Finally, AMBREIN S, the showstopping ingredient, is represented as a sublimated, augmented fusion of this bergamot and vanillin.

The color palette follows its own logic, evoking freshness (green and blue) for the bergamot, warmth (gold) for the vanillin, and ultimately, that warm amber, orange glow resulting from their encounter—all set against a deep blue backdrop, the signature color of Infiniment Coty Paris.

I crafted these illustrations using ink on paper, before finalizing them with a digital touch.

The illustrations were brought to life and animated by Quartier Animé.
