About me

Experienced Lecturer with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry.
Skilled in Photography, Logo Design, Advertising, Lecturing, and Adobe Creative Suite. Strong marketing professional with a PGCERT focused in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Edge Hill University.
She began her career as an Art Director, then Senior Art Director, in her homeland of Mexico. She worked for global advertising agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey, BBDO, Wunderman Catto Johnson and Ogilvy producing campaigns for global brands such as American Express, Lucozade, Duracell, Kodak, Fischer Price, etc
When Mariana moved to the UK, she became a Senior Graphic Designer with St Helens Windows, creating the company's corporate image and advertising campaigns, before coming to Edge Hill University in 2004. She is now a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Advertising in the Business School.
Mariana was awarded with a Bronze Lion at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in 1999, and has also received accolades from the One Show specialist advertising awards, the London International Awards and Creative Circle Mexico for her creative work.
On top of her industry experience, Mariana has achieved the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2012. She is also an Adobe Certified Expert with vast experience with the adobe creative suite.
Mariana's research interest and passion is creativity in advertising. She is currently working on her proposal for a PhD in this area. Mariana can speak fluent English, Spanish and Portuguese.
