ABOUT
The teddy bear project was one of many i have generated while studying Fine Art BA at Manchester Metropolitan University. It included myself and a black colored and decorative teddy bear. The black bear symbolized a terrible tragedy in our family some years back and the decorative items on the bear were to symbolise the good memories left with us. It was a series of black and white photographs picturing me spending some time with the bear. It also came with a short story-telling script that would guide the viewer to the projects concept.
The short story was:
"A collection of memories laid safe inside a teddy bear.
16 years ago a terrible tragedy dyed the bear black. What color he bared before does not matter. What mattered the most is that he no longer was his original color. He would forever live in black.
But as the years went by, his black memory slowly recovered.
He would generate not new but old memories that were not black or dull nor disappointing.
He learned to live with interesting shaped memories that kept him happy before he was painted black and not with the one tragedy that made him black.
The tragedy would no longer define him.
But he would still be the teddy bear that once was painted black."
