ABOUT
The Smithsonian wanted to reinvigorate and renew its Arts & Industries Building’s mission of inspiring people to think more hopefully about the future. They planned an exhibition called FUTURES—something that felt timely given that with today’s 24-hour news cycle, political and environmental crises, and economic turmoil; it’s more challenging than ever to think optimistically about what’s next.
The objectives we were tasked with were as big and ambitious as the expo title: to introduce Smithsonian as a national voice for the future, and AIB as a dynamic space for future-forward content, shift the paradigm on how we think about our future(s), and “sell out” the exhibit.
In essence, we needed an experience that could take the FUTURES exhibition beyond the four walls of the museum and encourages people to use their agency to create a future that they want to live in.
