ABOUT

"This AW/19 season is inspired by the Fauntleroy suit! The flamboyant appearances of the cherished children adored in frills and bows of the Fauntleroy suit found in cabinet photography tell a very different story to the realities of the 19th century, during the Industrial Revolution when poverty and childhood labour was an even bigger problem than today.

The suit became a marker of gentility and middle class status, and in some accounts was used as a facade by some families to conceal their hardship. There are other stories from these difficult times about youth who turned to crime and gangs to protect themselves. The clothing the gangs appropriated to construct a facade and shield their vulnerability inspired me as it's something we all do on some level when choosing clothing to present ourselves.

This collection is for our inner child, clothing that makes you feellight hearted, fabulous and loved, and at the same time understanding that we are all vulnerable in some way.

For this collection Tanner worked with Liberty London to develop winter base fabrics with the seasonal prints in Velvet and Corduroy to make limited edition pieces in the collection."

To support the idea behind the collection I decided to imitate soft daylight and directed the model to pose in confident boyish manner.
