Wordsmith and the lost Mojoes

Published by

Words! what’s it about words? Unless there still exists in some part of the world an oral tradition, which may be the case, say in Amazonian tribes, then words are the cornerstone of our world culture. The foundation of everything we know. In the beginning was the Word. This however isn’t an article about the Biblical reference. We’ve moved on since then. This is about Wordsmiths - those who use words skilfully in our everyday lives. 2021 has been for me an engagement with words: either in the use of articles, or more, in the use of storytelling, including Scripts and Short stories. I’m honing my skill, in fact I’m not sure there’ll ever be an end to the skill of assembling words - putting one word in front of each other to make a sentence and with sentences, making paragraphs, leading to a coherent relationship. Finally forming a unified whole. In my case it’s the lost Mojo that’s being sought. One way or another, you hope you’ll find that lost Mojo - To lose one’s confidence, energy, or enthusiasm, especially coinciding with a decline in one’s success.

‘Per aspera ad astra... Through hardship to the stars...’, It’s with the craft of words that I’ve set my compass on. It doesn’t come without its dangers. You never know what you might dig up. What Myth might be unearthed and exposed as not what was previously thought, or what hero becomes just a mere mortal. Words are involvement, you run the gauntlet of emotional and personal associations being revealed in not such a flattering light as you once might have previously thought. It all starts with words. In a contemporary sense  - the act or an instance of transforming ideas into words, which in turn, brings the choice of words into play. Ultimately, making plain the art of  communication. It makes the theatrical, without the need for a stage. Acquainting yourself with words, is to experience responsibility. Words can go wherever you choose. It’s just a question of where do you want to go or better still, where do you want the reader to go. We are both on this journey together. The Mojoes and the Wordsmith. This has been my personal experience. You just never know what you’ll unearth, when you’re in the business of dealing in words.
