Dear Sir/Madam,

I am interested in applying for the role of Video and Digital Specialist. I came across this vacancy on *.

I have a level 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Media & Communications (specialising in television and video production) and have worked as a videographer for a company that produces promotional videos for online marketing. I am well versed in all stages of production from researching, scripting and storyboarding through to filming and editing the products. I am also experienced with compression and encoding software as well as content management systems for uploading and hosting videos online. In addition to this, I have had a role where I produced my own shows for broadcast on television and this incorporated both the studio and on-location filming as well as editing the final programs. My current job is as a technical producer of live interactive television and this involves camerawork as well as vision mixing of the live output. I have also had several opportunities to produce and edit promotional shorts and music videos from live performances. I feel that I understand what is needed to produce videos that captivate audiences. I also have experience of editing in Final Cut Pro, Avid Express Pro as well as Adobe Premiere Pro and filming in both SD and HD using a variety of cameras. I have developed my competence with lighting shots on location as well as in the use of studio lighting. I also have experience with interview techniques, both on and off camera, as well as sound recording in a variety of conditions.

In addition to this, I have also worked in a management role where I was responsible for the day to day running of a sales team and I also believe that I have excellent interpersonal skills. I am an excellent team player but also able to work on my own using my initiative.

I have a passion for working in television and video production as well as the media industry in general. So much so that I left a degree in dentistry to pursue this career. I also write for a newspaper and magazine in their film reviews and entertainment news sections on a voluntary basis as well as concert photography for an online newspaper. I have enjoyed all aspects of the jobs that I have had so far and hope to learn so much more as I venture through the industry. I would like to be multi talented, more so than I already am, and it is for this reason that I am learning motion graphics using Adobe After Effects and stills manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. I have my own editing facilities comprising of an iMac (27") with Adobe CS4.

Although my current location is Bedford, I have been looking to relocate for a while now and this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.
