ABOUT

This illustration was created for Women’s Health UK in partnership with Boots, for an article raising awareness about endometriosis and exploring strategies for managing chronic pain. The feature centered on a pain activist, highlighting her morning routines, mindfulness practices, and resilience-building habits.

The brief called for a composition that exuded self-assurance. The illustration needed to inspire confidence while reflecting the strength of those navigating chronic health challenges.

To achieve this, I designed a central figure whose pose draws from yoga and dance-inspired movement, particularly the dancer’s pose which is a posture that embodies balance and strength while easing tension. The figure is surrounded by blooming lotus flowers, symbolizing the ability to rise above, a calm lake representing water’s restorative power, and soaring birds to signify hope and overcoming adversity.

The color palette, developed in collaboration with the client, emphasized vibrancy and warmth, underscoring the themes of renewal and empowerment without feeling heavy. The final illustration balances energy with tranquility, aligning with the article’s message of resilience and self-care.

All was created in Procreate and delivered in CMYK and RGB formats for both print and digital publication.

A huge thank you to the client and creative team for the opportunity to bring such a meaningful topic to life. Also thank you to my wonderful agents Tim and Grace at Making Pictures.
