ABOUT
For this feature in Psychologie Magazine, I was commissioned to illustrate two full-page illustrations and a spread accompanying an article on the science of awe and its impact on our nervous system. The article explored how experiences of awe can calm the mind, foster creativity, reduce inflammation and reconnect us with the present moment.
To visually translate this awe-like feeling, I started by reading the article in full and identifying key themes and imagery. I took notes on moments that described being immersed in nature, such as photographing small animals, noticing dew drops or simply pausing to observe our surroundings. These details became the foundation for the illustrations, filled with subtle movement, gentle colors and soft organic forms.
Together with the art directors, we landed on a calming and harmonious color palette designed to evoke serenity and a sense of grounded wonder. My goal was to make the illustrations feel like a pause. Just as awe can interrupt the rush of daily life and invite presence.
These illustrations were created in Procreate. I worked in both CMYK and RGB to accommodate print and digital formats. This project was a joy to work on and aligns with my passion for supporting thoughtful, emotional storytelling in the health, wellness and psychology space.
Special thanks to the wonderful art directors Bureau Puk and Studio Fabienne. Always a pleasure collaborating together!
