About you:

Serge Sarkisoff - the young Fashion & Beauty photographer and retoucher.
Born in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 1990. Now lives and works in Sochi and Moscow.
Serge's creativity isn't verbose, it is beyond the limits and doesn't try to remain in them.
In the photos he likes to combine classics with shocking, is black&white pictures with bright luster.
Some of Serge's works are published in the Photovogue project on vogue.it.

How long have you been working in photography / retouching?

4 years

What got you started in this career?

Since I was young I have always been interested in photography so decide to begin studying it further as I grew older. This is where my love for it grew.

Describe your work in 140 characters.

I am engaged in business which I love.

What makes you and your creative work different?

I don't try to pursue tendencies. I express thoughts as I consider it necessary.
First of all, I try to capture the soul of the model - the hidden parts - instead of trying to capture the exterior beauty of the model.
My models play a big part in making my work stand apart from others.
I also try not to use traditional methods of shooting usually seen in fashion photography, such as:
long exposure and "lightpainting" technique. It makes unique each picture.

Tell us about some of the clients you've worked for/campaigns you've worked on.

At present I don't have any famous clients. Generally I work with Russian model agencies as well as some not so
well-known magazines. I'm always looking out for new opportunities.

If you could work on any project for any company/organisation, what would it be and who would it be for?

I think it would be really interesting to shoot a collection of famous fashion designers. I'd start with John Galliano.

What's been the most important lesson you’ve learnt?

The camera must be static, but the photographer shouldn't.

What do you love most about your job?

The whole process. I love the magic that's involved in capturing a moment and making it last forever.

What frustrates you most about your job?

Sometimes imagination doesn't coincide with reality.

What's the best advice you've ever received, and who from?

"Think before you shoot". By my first teacher.

What's your favourite bit of photography or retouching work?

In photography: the preparation and process.
In retouching: the moments that make you feel like a wizard.

Who is your creative hero?

Paolo Roversi, Steven Klein, Steven Meisel, some artists of the Renaissance.

What gadget, gizmo, or tool can't you live without.

I am happy because there is no such thing. But, if I was forced I'd have to say my Macbook.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.

I like to read classic literature.

If you were given a super power, what would you choose?

I dont know really?

If you were a biscuit, what sort would you be?

Chocolate pie because I love it :)

Where would you go in a time machine?

To Ancient Rome!
