European footballing giant Barcelona is renewing its image with a rethink of the iconic crest design and an official introduction of a nickname regularly used by fans.

The new logo, created by Spanish consultancy Summa alongside the club’s in-house design team, sees the FCB initials dropped with the new crest (below) being easier to produce across digital channels.

The intention is to better convey Barcelona’s values and attributes as a global powerhouse and the strategy adopts two overarching expressions. FC Barcelona relates to the footballing nature of the institution, whereas the term Barça
