Syncsmith hires Simon Pyke (Universal Everything/Warp) to reinforce their Sound-Design division

Published by

Syncsmith is delighted to formally announce and more importantly welcome the extra-ordinary talents of Simon Pyke to their rapidly expanding audio synchronisation business. Simon joins the Bristol based venture having conducted a series of heavy-weight creative campaigns and design-led installations with his brother Matt Pyke over at Universal Everything.

Simon’s recent projects and commissions include; a collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects creating microscopic interface sounds for an interactive installation for the global launch of the Samsung S8 at Milan Design Week; creating an immersive synthetic sound world for the experiential launch of Toyota's new C-HR model; developing the soundtrack for the Living Mural projected onto the side of the Sydney Opera House; bringing the future of Hyundai to life via an amazing 36 channel surround sound system at the companies HQ in Seoul; and creating a 5.1 surround sound immersive experience for Microsoft’s Infinity Room.

Other highlights include Audio Branding and compositions for AOL, MTV, Hennessey Cognac, Sky TV, Heineken, Sony Max and the 2012 Olympics.

With a macro level focus on creating tailored unique sound design and bespoke enigmatic music for moving pictures, CGI, VR and motion graphics, Simon also releases and performs his own interpretations of experimental and electronic music under the name Freeform for various recording labels including Warp.

Simon cites a diverse range of influences from the musings of Arvo Part through the more recognisable popular structures of modern producers like Timbaland. His passion though resides in found sound, vintage and new forms of synthesis, recording and manipulation of new unusual and ancient instruments and modern digital production.

Simon comments on the partnership with Syncsmith “I am delighted to be working with Syncsmith as I feel like we share a common perspective of bringing a fresh, daring and bold approach to client collaborations. It’s exiting to be in company of such an exiting roster of boundary pushing artists and labels and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead”

Founder of Syncsmith Gavin Mee comments “we’re truly humbled to welcome Simon’s talents onboard, his sound-design work to date dominates the art and installations world and has innate crossover value as demonstrated in his award winning work for Hyundai & McClaren alike. Personally I think it’s a great pairing and I’m looking forward to an enduring healthy relationship in which we can continue to champion and support Simons craft”
