DDB Group Sydney announced today that Phil Dowgierd has been appointed as managing director for Tribal Worldwide Sydney. Dowgierd moves to the DDB Group from AKQA, where he led a group of 60 individuals focusing on the global platform development, social activity and mobile work for Nissan. Prior to his position at AKQA he had also held lofty positions at Grand Union, Fallon and M&C Saatchi, where he gained significant exposure to a variety of product sectors across numerous media platforms, working for brands as diverse as Skoda, Sainsbury's, Sky Television and Foster's lager.

“I'm Delighted to be joining DDB Sydney for many professional and personal reasons.” Phil Dowgierd

Chris Brown, the CEO of DDB Group Australia, has “Known Phil for many years,” and says that the new signing comes to the agency with “A wealth of experience in both specialist digital and creative agencies.” He believes that Dowgierd's “Outstanding talent” and experience working on “Numerous high profile and award winning campaigns” means that he'll be a valuable asset to the team at Tribal Worldwide Sydney. An asset who will prove invaluable in their mission to “Take the strong digital foundations of the group to the next level” and “Create a best in class specialist agency with technology and experience design at its core.”

Brown underlines that the agency has “Significant ambitions for the Tribal Worldwide brand in Australia” and that their “Commitment to digital” is backed up by investments in the digitisation of the entire Group, with “DDB Sydney’s multi-award winning TrackMyMaccas” being a great example of recent work. Dowgierd agrees with the agency's commitment to digital and believes he's the right man for the job due to the 16 years he's worked in the industry for “Four best in class agencies, both in digital and above the line sectors.” He says that he is “Delighted to be joining DDB Group Sydney for many professional and personal reasons.”

“Tomlinson is one of the strongest ECDs in Australia at this time” Chris Brown – CEO DDB Group Australia

Dowgierd has stated his ambition in joining DDB is to “Further develop an already strong global brand and produce an outstanding business that is at the leading edge of the interface between technology and creativity.” He says he is also excited to move to Australia (from the UK) as it is “One of the fastest economies in adopting mobile and tablet usage,” areas in which he should be more than qualified to refer to himself as an expert.

Another big move at Tribal Worldwide Australia comes in the form of Darwin Tomlinson, who will move into the position of ECD Tribal Worldwide Sydney from his post as DDB Sydney’s Deputy ECD, having previously worked as an ECD with The White Agency for more than two years. Campaigns led by Tomlinson since he joined DDB Sydney 2 years ago include the groundbreaking 'TrackMyMaccas' campaign for McDonalds and he was one of the pioneering members of the DDB Group's 'Shaper' innovation lab. Tomlinson believes “The timing is right to re-position Tribal Worldwide in Australia” and will join Dowgierd in expanding the agencies offerings “Across the digital spectrum”. Brown salutes his new ECD as “One of the strongest in Australia at this time” and feels he is the perfect man to work alongside Dowgierd in “Evolving the already strong offering of Tribal Worldwide Sydney to a new level.”
