Ogilvy & Mather win big at AMES 2014 in India and make a new major hire in New York

Ogilvy & Mather recently took home a full bounty of medals at this year's Asian Marketing Effectiveness and Strategy Awards (the AMES), with the agency winning Asia Pacific's Most Effective Agency Office of the Year and Media Strategy Agency of the Year, amongst others. AMES is a collaboration between Lions Festivals and Haymarket, which honours clients and their agencies for marketing strategies that deliver results which transform businesses and brands. They are judged by a panel of top client and agency professionals from the advertising industry.

Ogilvy & Mather India won a total of 17 medals out of a total of 23 medals won by Indian agencies. O&M's most successful campaign was undoubtedly Lifebuoy's Roti Reminder campaign, which took 7 medals, including 3 golds, 3 bronzes and a platinum, across various categories. The other major success stories for O&M included their “How Google Search brought hope to 1.4 billion people” campaign, which won one silver and two bronzes, and the 'Vodafone Ear Muffs' campaign, which won a silver and a gold. Other Ogilvy & Mather campaigns that walked away with medals on the night were Vodafone's 'Message Barter' and 'Internet is Fun', Cadbury's 'Race' and 'Taiyari Jeet Ki, and Fevicol's 'Bonded to 1 Billion Hearts'.

Abhijit Avasthi, the national creative director at Ogilvy India, says that this win reinforces their “Belief in the power of creativity and the Ogilvy way of doing things,” and thanks their clients, calling them the agency's “Biggest supporters.” Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and creative director at Ogilvy South Asia, meanwhile, is “Truly delighted” at the agency's wonderful performance, and believes the success is “Due to opportunities given by clients and the fantastic delivery” of their workers.

In other Ogilvy & Mather news, it was reported last week that the creative veteran Keith Anderson had been signed as executive creative director and head of art at their offices in New York. He will handle the agency's IBM and BlackRock accounts, as well as new business, and will report to Steve Simpson, Ogilvy North America's chief creative officer. Anderson joins Ogilvy from AMV BBDO, where he led creative for their Blackberry account. He has also worked at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners for almost 2 decades, becoming an associate partner and director of design. In a press release issued to coincide with his appointment to O&M, it's stated that Anderson played a “Crucial role” in G,S&P's transition into the digital age.
