Ogilvy & Mather New York promote Lou Aversano to chief executive officer

Published by

Last week, Ogilvy & Mather announced that Lou Aversano is to be promoted from his current role as chief operating officer at the agency's New York office, to chief executive officer, effective immediately. He will remain in New York for the new role, and will continue to report to CEO and North American Chairman, John Seifert. In the new role, Aversano will oversee all of the business performance, operations, client relations, creative strategies and talent management at the Ogilvy & Mather New York office, which is the largest operating network in the entire O&M worldwide network. These areas will be overseen across all of the agency's disciplines, which include (of course) advertising, PR, digital, customer engagement and branded content.

In the new role, Aversano will oversee all of the business performance, operations, client relations, creative strategies and talent management

Seifert says that Aversano has done a “Phenomenal job serving the New York office for the past three years, and IBM for the past 20,” and that “No one is better suited for this unique leadership opportunity.” Seifert believes that the new New Work CEO will “Put his heart and soul into making New York the best it can be,” and that “Both the agency and our clients will benefit from his dedicated leadership." Aversano himself, says that working for Ogilvy & Mather and IBM in New York has been a “Truly rewarding experience,” and that he is looking forward to expanding his role in New York and “partnering with all of O&M's disciplines to further develop their businesses and deliver award-winning work that reaches the epitome of creativity and effectiveness."

Lou Aversano

Aversano first joined O&M in 1994 as an account supervisor, having previously worked at N.W. Ayer and Kirshenbaum & Bond. He moved to Paris two years later to help lead the European IBM account. He returned to the big apple at the turn of the century to join the worldwide IBM team, and became president of all Ogilvy's global IBM business in 2007.  He was asked to lead the New York operation as chief operating officer in 2011, whilst remaining an authority of the agency's global IBM business. In this role he has worked closely with the New York leadership team to win new clients, including Tiffany & Co and Comcast.

“Lou will put his heart and soul into making New York the best it can be.” John Seifert, Ogilvy & Mather North America CEO

For the last 3 years he has spent his time at O&M New York providing invaluable and impeccable service to the agency and its clients, implementing groundbreaking technological and creative innovations to the agency's brands (IBM especially). He has also helped earn both IBM and O&M countless industry awards, including over 50 Effie Awards. He recently partnered with Ogilvy's IBM team to create the historic “Made with IBM” campaign, which launched earlier this month at the Masters golf tournament.
