mmadigital hires Phil Howells as creative consultant

Published by

mmadigital, the Manchester-based specialist online marketing agency for the legal sector, has completed a hat-trick of summer hires by appointing Phil Howells, the creative genius behind the “It's a bit of an animal” campaign for Peperami, as a creative consultant. Howell's arrival closely follows the recent hires of Richard Higham and Dan Walsh as senior PPC manager, and head of project and account management respectively. Howells joins mmadigital from Raft, where he served as creative director.

mmadigital has amassed an ever-expanding list of over 70 law firm clients since it became a specialist agency in April

Throughout his 28 years of experience in the industry, he has worked for many large consumer brands such as Sure, John Lewis and Dirt Devil, and has received numerous industry awards at events such as D&AD, The Roses, and the Northern Marketing Awards. In his illustrious career, he has also spent time working for Grey London, Court Burkitt and JWT. His contract at mmadigital is on a freelance basis, but he will be employed full-time for at least the immediate future.

Phil Howells

Dez Derry, the CEO of mmadigital believes that the desire of an industry veteran such as Howells to join the agency “Shows the faith that marketing experts have” in what they're bringing to the legal sector, and underlines how law firms are increasingly feeling the need to be “More consumer driven in the way they attract new leads”. The agency has amassed an ever-expanding list of over 70 law firm clients since it became a specialist agency in April, and Derry feels that with the arrival of Howells and their other recent hires, that their team is now set to take the service offering “To the next level, as well as meeting the increasing demand from new enquiries.” He singles out Howells specifically, praising his new creative consultant's “Unique creativity,” which he feels will bring a fresh approach to their clients, “That no other digital agency with a legal focus can provide.”

Howells himself adds that he knows mmadigital are “Making massive waves in the legal sector, showing modern law firms how they can increase their business potential.” However, he feels that the sector is more competitive now than it ever has been before, so law firms are looking for more “Creative campaigns that stand out, to ensure they can capture the attention of people looking for legal services.” He is delighted to be part of the mmadigital team, and with his expertise and reputation, he hopes to help both current and future clients of the agency to stand out amongst the competition, which is one thing he certainly knows how to do!
