M&C Saatchi scoop Doddle, the click-and-collect service for Online Shopping

Published by

M&C Saatchi has been hired by the click-and-collect online shopping service, Doddle to handle its creative and PR account ahead of a national launch, which is planned to go ahead in 300 locations in major rail stations and shopping centres across the country over the next three years. M&C Saatchi will be providing fully integrated marketing solutions for Doddle, involving everything from social media and community management, to above the line communications and experiential activity.

The Doddle initiative targets the fast-growing online shopping sector, answering the increased demand for click-and-collect services by allowing consumers to order stock online from popular online services such as Amazon at their leisure and then pick up and/or return their goods at their nearest Doddle location. Doddle will send notifications through email and SMS to alert customers when their items are ready for collection too, so there's none of the needless waiting around associated with other click-and-collect services.

Doddle's chief executive, Tim Robinson, says that the research they have conducted “Shows that consumers and retailers remain frustrated with the problems of delivering and returning goods purchased online.” He believes that “Doddle will make (the process) quick, easy and convenient,” and says they appointed M&C Saatchi because they are a agency with a notable track record, and Robinson says Doddle is “An ambitious company with big plans.” Tim Duffy, the group chairman of M&C Saatchi is pleased to have the opportunity to “Build a new brand from scratch,” and looks forward to “Creating a famous brand,” using all of the skills and disciplines at M&C Saatchi's disposal.

Many of the 300 stores that will be opening over the next few years will feature changing rooms, designed to speed up the returns process, so customers can try on their clothes at the store itself and return it there and then. The first six Doddle shops will operate flexible opening hours, and will be  in operation from early in the morning until late in the evening at Westfield Stratford, London Waterloo, London Cannon Street, Bromley South, Brighton and Chelmsford rail stations.
