Grey Present Courtney Love at the 8th Annual Music Legends Seminar at this year's Cannes Lions

Published by

It was announced over the weekend that singer, songwriter, actress and pop culture icon, Courtney Love, will feature at the 8th Annual Legends of Music Seminar, presented by Grey, the global advertising and marketing agency. The seminar will be taking place at the 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the most prestigious event in the advertising world's calendar, on the 18th of June in the Grand Audi Theatre at the Palais des Festivals.

Love, who shot to fame as the front-woman of alternative rock group Hole, breakthrough actress of the early 21st century, and one half of the celebrity couple that defined the early 90's, will be interviewed at the seminar by Tor Myhren, the worldwide chief creative officer of Grey and president of the agencies New York office. Myhren is honoured to feature Love at the event, and feels she is a fearless artist who has always “Made brave choices and followed her heart.” He believes that as a “Rockstar, a writer, a mother, a Golden Globe nominated actress, and a survivor,” who has “Reinvented herself and her brand more than most people can dream," she will be the perfect fit for the seminar.

The Annual Music Legends Seminar focuses on artists from the world of music recounting their own creative journeys, and it has become one of the Cannes Lions Festival's most popular events. It's been a popular fixture of the Festival over the last seven years, hosting legends such as Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Debbie Harry and the late, great Lou Reed. This year's promises to be one of the best yet, thanks to the unique story behind Love's rise to fame, and her singular, creative spirit and a stage persona that Radio legend John Peel famously described as “Verging on the heroic.”

In ditching the 'classic rockers' for a star of the generation X grunge era, Grey are obviously making a serious statement, and Love's conversation with Myhren should be fascinating for anyone with a predilection for creativity. The poster for the event (designed by Steve Davies of Grey London), further runs this point home with a sparse, classy design that harks back to the star's early 90's heyday.
