The Brandscape by Funding Circle is the ultimate branding brain buster

Published by

For those of us who love a good puzzle, but have grown tired of bog-standard brain teasers, a new puzzle from marketing lending platform Funding Circle could be the answer to our prayers. The puzzle takes the form of a boldly colourful collage, which features 60 images representing some of the most famous brands and companies in the world. All you have to do is follow the visual clues and identify the brand. It's a lot harder that it looks. Trust me! The clues are sparse and often cryptic, and whilst some of the solves are quite self explanatory (no prizes for guessing what the picture of the apple represents, for example), there are others that rely on far more oblique logic. Anyone who has ever played an old school Lucas Arts adventure game, for example, such as “The Secret of Monkey Island,” will be well at home with the twisted logic utilised here.

Darryl Bowman, CMO at Funding Circle, said: “The game focuses on big global brands that have shaped our lives, but every company was small once. Apple started in a garage and Nike’s origin is a little known shoe distributor. Hopefully one of the smaller businesses Funding Circle helps will go on to become a household name. It's definitely a tricky puzzle. I keep forgetting half the answers myself!”

Granted it's not all natural smarts that will get you through here, as a decent command of general knowledge, film and music will be essential, but anyone who has ever aced a pub quiz, or even a pub quiz machine, should be able to identify all 60 brands eventually. Answer all 60 correctly and you'll also earn to honour of being named a “Brandscape Master,” and a spot on the Brandscape Hall of Fame! Funding Circle actually recommend asking for help via social media, and you can even reach out to them directly for help @FundingCircle. One hint they've given to get everyone started is that they themselves are hidden somewhere in the ornate tapestry!

You can begin tackling the puzzle HERE right now, and it can mercifully be completed at your own pace. Here's a hint that helped me; try saying out loud what you're seeing. It was good enough for Catchphrase after all!
