IKEA launch experiential Dining Club where diners cook their own food

Published by

Next month, IKEA is set to open a fully immersive DIY restaurant space in the heart of Shoreditch, where you and 20 friends can take over a pre-prepared diner space to choose your own menu, cook and then host the ultimate private dinner party. The group of up to 21 can choose between a brunch, lunch or evening dinner slot at The Dining Club between the 10th and the 25th of September. For those worrying about having to do all the work themselves, there's even a sous chef and maitre de on hand. Crucially, all the cleaning up will also be taken care of (and all the furniture will already be put together). The whole experience is also completely free for diners! Ikea calls the concept “The ultimate celebration of the joy of cooking with friends, just in your own restaurant on Shoreditch High Street rather than at home.” Participants at the Dining Club pop-up will be able to select dishes to make together from a range of modern sharing dishes that include some Scandinavian classics.

Ikea has been inspired by its understanding that people are spending less time cooking and eating together in the UK. It will mean that diners get to mimic an actual dinner party, but one where diners can host more guests than usual. The experience isn't limited to the pop-up dining space either. Interactive “Food For Thought” master classes will be hosted by Great British Bake-Off winner Edd Kimber and others covering topics such as Swedish baking, clean eating and food styling. A more conventional Ikea homewares shop selling kitchen products has also been set up within the space as well as a kitchen showroom featuring units, fixtures and fittings. If your interested has been piqued and you fancy making a reservation, click here and declare your interest. Expect places to fill up quick though!
