WPP acquire Brazilian health consultancy company

Published by

WPP recently announced that Kantar Health, its wholly-owned global healthcare consulting firm, has acquired Evidências, a healthcare research company based in Brazil. Evidências is an industry leader in “Evidence-based, health management services,” with a strong scientific reputation in all segments of the Brazilian healthcare market, including health insurers, government bodies, hospitals and providers, and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. This is a significant acquisition for WPP, as last year Evidências, which was founded in 1998 and is based in Campinas, enjoyed unaudited revenues of around 5.8 million Brazilian real (around £1.5 million). It also has an office in Sao Paulo.

The acquisition will greatly expand Kantar Health's presence in the region, which is an important emerging market. Evidências also brings with them a whole new range of cost-effective consultancy and research services in local dossier submission packages, professional writing, market access and training. The acquisition also means that Kantar Health will be able to provide better coordination of market access and health outcomes in Brazil.

That's not to say Evidências won't be getting anything out of the deal though. Kantar Health also receives valuable expertise in the DATASUS governmental database, which covers 20% of the country's privately insured population, offering a complete picture of the healthcare sector. Evidências will also gain access to Kantar Health's data assets and global team of healthcare consultants, allowing it to strengthen its work in evidence-based medicine and further extend its range of services in consulting, market access and training. And, of course, the partnership means that both companies will also be expanding their client bases.

Otavio Clark, the president and project development team leader at Evidências, is “Excited to become part of Kantar Health” and looks forward to delivering “Unprecedented scientific, health outcomes and market access expertise to clients in Brazil."

Mike Kelly, CEO of Kantar Health in the Americas region, said the partnership “Brings together two highly talented and scientific teams and further strengthens Kantar Health's presence in this important emerging healthcare market." He feels that as a combined force, “Kantar Health and Evidências will give clients unparalleled access to new sources of healthcare information and enhanced scientific expertise, health economics modelling, clinical studies and market access.” On the other side of the deal, Otavio Clark, the president and project development team leader at Evidências, is “Excited to become part of Kantar Health” and looks forward to delivering “Unprecedented scientific, health outcomes and market access expertise to clients in Brazil." he believes that "Evidências has established itself as one of the premier health management companies in Brazil” through a “Focused approach to evidence-based medicine and enhanced decision making for health technologies and market analysis." In other words, it appears he's more than confident that they'll be able to hold their own with the big boys at WPP.
