BrandOpus partners with Carling for student award scheme

Published by

This afternoon, BrandOpus announced the launch of its rebranded student design awards program; Chrysalis. The rebrand comes as a result of a new partnership with the UK’s most popular beer brand, Carling. The iconic beer brand has set a bespoke, blue-sky thinking brief for students, which BrandOpus has been delivering to participating universities over the past few months. Although BrandOpus has run student awards programs in the past (which has led to permanent placements at the studio for several participants) it is now moving into another league with Carling coming on board.

With the focus shifting to supporting the development of the student’s work, once the initial shortlist is announced in March, students will get the opportunity to have feedback and development sessions with BrandOpus before delivering their final entries before the client in May.

Jim Shearer, Brand Director at Carling UK, said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a great scheme. Our partnership with BrandOpus over the past year has highlighted the importance of creative thinking, and as a result we are keen to support a scheme that looks to encourage more of this approach as possible. We’re excited to see what the entries will look like and expect an extremely high standard based on the talent emerging these days.”

BrandOpus worked with Carling to create a brief for students to BYOB, or “Brand Your Own Beverage.” It’s fun brief that makes a lot of sense given the Carling partnership, and representatives from the lager brand will be judging the final entries alongside BrandOpus. In addition to a £2000 cash prize, the winner’s will receive a placement with the BrandOpus design team at their main studio in London. The final deadline is currently set for March 17.
