Create.net Celebrates 12 years of helping businesses get online with creative "Cake Off"

Published by

UK digital company Create.net is celebrating its twelfth birthday, having grown from a back room business to a company with over 10,000 customers across the world.

Create.net has been providing its website-building application to allow anyone, regardless of technical ability, to get their business online since 2001, when founder Simon Kimber started working on the platform in his bedroom in Haywards Heath.

Simon told us, “I hope this success shows other aspiring tech entrepreneurs that it's possible for anyone to develop their passion into a successful business. It has been an exciting journey over the last 12 years and I'd like to say a massive thank you to all our customers, partners and the Create.net team who have helped us to build the company up over the years to what it is today. I'm really proud to be part of a growing British business that is helping many business people across the UK, and the world, to realise their dreams of starting up their own business.”

To mark the occasion, and National Baking Week, staff members donned aprons and makeshift chef’s hats to race against the clock and decorate the most creative cake within the 15 minute time limit.

All through National Baking Week (14th-20th October), Create.net will be putting the vote to the public, who can decide on their favourite of the twelve cakes by ‘Liking’ photos on the company’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/create).

In homage to the ever-popular BBC competition The Great British Bake Off, the cakes will be presented to the judges blind, so no-one knows who decorated which cake!

“We’ve had a huge amount of fun in the speed-decoration contest and we’re looking forward to seeing who comes out on top,” said Simon. “It was a great way to celebrate our birthday, and best of all we now get to eat the cakes!”
