Agency Cribs Episode 2: Heading to Camden with jones knowles ritchie

Published by

In the second sneak peek behind the curtains of adland’s biggest, best and brightest shops, we offer you an insightful look into the day-to-day operations of jones knowles ritchie, an award-winning global design agency based right in the heart of London’s trendy Camden Town. This episode by Creativepool, with outstanding support from end-to-end entertainment specialists Corbis Entertainment, is just the latest in our on-going Agency Cribs series. Created alongside our good friends at Ground Control, who took care of the production, and Massive Music, the music makers, it is loosely based on the concept first dreamt up by one of the hottest media companies of the 21st century.

In the second Agency Cribs, we offer you an insightful look into the day-to-day operations of jones knowles ritchie

Showing us around the agency’s swanky abode are Design Director Brett Stabler, whose genial personality pegs him as “Through the Keyhole” era Lloyd Grossman with a better beard, and bubbly Senior Brand Strategist Elissa O’Brien.  From the opening shots of the agency’s seemingly subterranean lobby and the wall representing the first 25 years of the company, to our introduction to the incredibly well-stocked bar (seriously, we’re jealous) and the closing moments featuring the beating heart of the creative department with expert guidance by creative director Matt Comboy, it’s a snappy and light-hearted film that we couldn’t be prouder of. There’s even agency cats!

So without further ado, here’s where the magic happens!

The London Team

Matt Comboy, Creative Director of jones knowles ritchie, thoughts on the new episode: “We’re really proud of our London studio and we were absolutely delighted to take part in Agency Cribs, which was a lot of fun to film and shows off our character as an agency brilliantly. We hope you enjoy!”

Paul Reynolds, Managing Director of Massive Music shares his inspiration behind the project. “Creating the titles for Agency Cribs was a really fun project, which involved researching old US music TV shows and listening to a lot of late 80's and early 90's hip-hop. After we created the original music for the titles, we sourced and licensed a selection of tracks for the show's content that would make Ice-T nod in approval (and to the beat).

An inspiring and positive work environment in the creative industries is particularly important. If your team works in a comfortable space that inspires them, they will feel more confident to pursue their own creative endeavours.

Having a peek inside some of the coolest and most creative work spaces has given us ideas for our own office and studios. When the Massive Amsterdam HQ moves next year, we hope Agency cribs will come pay us a visit!"

Phoebe Scott, Producer of Ground Control shared “Agency Cribs is a project that we at Ground Control were really excited to get involved with. Producing the series meant we were lucky enough to work closely with some of the best agencies in the business to create some entertaining content and poke our noses into their daily lives! A lot of these places are foreign territory to competitors in the industry so we found it fascinating, being able to explore the spaces and see the whole agency in action. To then release that out into the advertising world and offer insight into the inner workings of each place all combined into this unique opportunity that we couldn't pass up.”

One aspect that was consistently a pleasant surprise was that they all have such personal internal features and that each one is completely unique in its atmosphere. We discovered such different personalities in each agency space, exuding from not only the interior design but the work ethic and attitudes of everyone there. It was so refreshing to be able to reveal the character of each agency to our industry, through an honest and insightful film, hopefully with a giggle or two thrown in!”

Founder of Creativepool, Michael Tomes, says “This project was born from curiosity. We at Creativepool work closely with agencies and saw the opportunity to create some really unique and inspiring content. One of the most important things about an agency is its culture and the stimulating environment from which some of the best ideas in the world are generated so we wanted to give agencies the chance to show off not only their space, but their personality as well. Jones knowles ritchie have been fantastic to work with – a true insight into how they work together as a team – as have our Partners, Ground Control and Massive Music. A group of truly talented people all round!”

One of JKR’s most notable clients is legendary US lager brand Budweiser. The agency took the brand’s design in an ambitious new direction this summer, which focused on the rich, American history of the beer that is arguably the most recognisable in the world. This month, however, the brand shifted gears yet again, with a new branding and design for the beer’s aluminium packaging that aims to reach younger consumers. The idea was to tap into what was making Budweiser relevant in culture, if not in the bar, so they identified the brand’s most iconic aspect (its classic red logo) and reinterpreted it into a bolder and more contemporary version. The result is a striking new look, which should help the brand to finally stem over 10 years of steady decline.
