Facebook Awards

Submissions are officially open for the 2015 Facebook Awards (formerly the Facebook Studio Awards), which celebrates top creative work on Facebook (and Instagram this year). This year’s awards feature four additional categories, which recognise even more aspects of creative excellence in marketing: Social Technology, Media Strategy, Facebook for Good and New Frontiers. The Facebook Awards are open to campaigns that ran between February 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Original work can be in any language, but submissions must be in English.

Cannes Lions announced earlier this week that award winning designer Dan Formosa will be presiding over the Product Design jury at this year’s International Festival of Creativity. Formosa is a famed design consultant, who was a member of the team that designed IBM’s first personal computer and more recently, established two design collectives; “4B,” and “Brainpool.” The festival introduced the Product Design category last year, acknowledging that as a global awards ceremony celebrating creativity in communications, it was essential for the industry that product design be recognised for the part it plays in brand communications.

Cannes Lions announced that Dan Formosa will be presiding over the Product Design category this year

Cannes Lions CEO Philip Thomas, said “The Product Design category is a necessary piece in the make-up of the awards” because “Design touches everyone’s lives every day and is an intrinsic part of every brand.” He added that “Cannes Lions is delighted to have someone of Dan’s standing at the helm of the category as it's established further in its second year.” Formosa himself, said “Every product a company creates is a personification of the brand that created it and a representation of the people standing behind that brand.”
