The last week has seen quite a few notable moves in ad world, with a few significant appointments that I've already touched on (including Lindsay Pattison's appointment to global CEO of Maxus), as well as those listed below.

Nils Leonard has been promoted to the role of chief creative officer at Grey London

First, it was announced last Thursday that Nils Leonard has been promoted to the role of chief creative officer at Grey London, a role he'll be filling alongside his existing role as executive creative director. He has been serving as ECD since 2010, having joined the agency in 2007. He has guiding the agency through it's most heavily awarded period, and chief executive and president of Grey EMEA David Patton believes he will “Use his new expanded role to drive significant creative innovation across our business.” He adds that these are “Very exciting times for Grey London,” which they are negotiating with a “Fantastic leadership team and tremendous momentum across the whole agency.” Leonard himself, who has also worked at TBWA, RKCR/Y&R and AMV BBDO, said “It sends a statement to creatives in the industry that Grey doesn’t have a waiting line,” that; “Creatives can do anything.”

Andreas Dahlqvist has joined Grey New York as chief creative officer

Over at Grey New York, meanwhile, Andreas Dahlqvist has joined the agency as chief creative officer, a role that has been left vacant since Tor Myhren was promoted to chief creative officer of Grey Worldwide. Dahlqvist founded DDB Stockholm in 2004 and has also held the title of vice chairman at McCann New York and deputy global CCO from brand within McCann. The new COO, who has “Every major creative award” already under his belt, will be reporting to Myhren and US CEO Michael Houston, and presiding over the agency's 500-strong creative team, helping to drive its creative vision. Of his appointment, his predecessor Myhren said “Few people in this industry have done what Andreas has,” namely staring “His own agency from scratch,” and building it into “The best digital agency on the planet.”

Joel Rodriguez joined McCann XBC New York as an executive creative director

Outside of Grey, there were other notable appointments last week, including that of Joel Rodriguez, who joined McCann XBC New York as an executive creative director. The agency, which was specifically created to handle McCann's MasterCard business, had been relying on a sole ECD in the shape of Pete Jones, but Rodriguez will bring a significant amount of industry experience to the table, having worked for agencies such as Goodby Silverstein & Partners, 180LA, and TBWA/Chiat/Day New York.

Montse Barrena and Juan Pablo Oubina recently joined Deutsch LA as co-heads of its Hispanic marketing division, DLAtino

Finally, Montse Barrena and Juan Pablo Oubina recently joined Deutsch LA as co-heads of its Hispanic marketing division, DLAtino. They assume the post from Jen Patterson, who became chief strategy officer at Y&R Seattle. They both join the agency from Grupo Gallegos. Barrena, who will serve as executive vice president and group account director had been partner and group account director at Grupo, where fellow Oubina had been serving in the same role (ECD).
