Ogilvy encourage European creatives to work in London while they still can

Published by

After a highly successful first year, Ogilvy & Mather UK is now recruiting for the second year of The Pipe – the agency's unconventional 6-month creative internship that pays the London Living Wage.

*

One of the few requirements to apply for The Pipe is that applicants must be legally allowed to live and work in the UK. But with Brexit looming, and the free movement of people coming to an end, a huge number of European creative types will soon be ineligible to apply. Ogilvy wanted to make the most of that vast talent pool, while they still could.

*

Dave Towers designed a series of posters that were then translated by some of the many hugely-talented Europeans working in Ogilvy’s London office. They’ll be distributed across the continent to remind Europeans that the opportunity to easily live and work in London won’t last much longer.

*

The Pipe was set up to foster diversity in the creative industries, not just diversity of gender, or race, or sexual orientation, but also diversity of background, of education, of thought. And in almost every way, it has been an unparalleled success.

*

Encouraging more Europeans to apply is just one way Ogilvy continues to explore that diversity. For example, some psychologists believe the first language we learn shapes the way we think. There are 23 officially recognised languages spoken in Europe. That’s a lot of different people thinking in very different ways.

*

Of last year’s 14 interns, 13 have been hired full-time into the various parts of the Ogilvy Group (the 14th is now working at a production company). And every one of them truly earned their place in Ogilvy. As if to hammer that point home, some work that was created by members of The Pipe even won a Cannes Lion last week!

If this has piqued your interest, anyone can apply now at www.ogilvypipe.com.
