Hires of the Week: Part 1

Quite a few important new hires and promotions this week, so we'll be splitting the usual weekly article into two (still rather hefty) halves. Enjoy!

Ogilvy & Mather New York

Ogilvy & Mather New York announced this week that Corinna Falusi has been promoted from executive creative director to the role of chief creative officer, marking the first major creative leadership appointment by Chris Garbutt. Falusi will drive creative vision at the New York agency, and will report directly to Garbutt. She'll also partner closely with president Adam Tucker. At Ogilvy & Mather, Falusi has led some of the agency’s most breakthrough work across Coca-Cola, Fanta, Ikea, Spotify, and most recently Coke Zero, an account she'll continue to lead alongside her her responsibilities.She began her career working at some of Europe’s most creative agencies including Jung von Matt, Germany’s most awarded agency, and Stawberry Frog, in both Amsterdam and in New York. Her work has been recognised by every major award show, with her proudest achievement thus far being her heavily awarded work for the non-profit organisation Nanhi Kali, which helps Indian girls receive the education they deserve.

Garbutt said “Corinna was an obvious choice when deciding on the new creative leadership structure within Ogilvy New York,” and believes she “Has the ability to inspire her teams and always delivers nothing but the best creative product.” He adds that, most importantly, “She is universally respected by the agency and its clients,” and he has “No doubt that Corinna will raise the creative bar of O&M Advertising.” Lou Aversano, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather New York, adds that Falusi's role “ Leading the creative portfolio of O&M Advertising New York is one of the most challenging in the industry.” He is confident, however that her “Passionate and fearless leadership will take O&M's creative output to new levels,” and he believes their partnership will “Prove to be unstoppable.”

Ogilvy Public Relations Indonesia has announced Misty Maitimoe as their new deputy managing director. Maitimoe brings over 19 years of experience in Indonesia's PR industry with her, as well as her expertise in consumer-FMCG, brand marketing communications, and technology. Throughout her career, she has helped build multinational brands, shape and manage reputation across markets within a broad range of industry sectors for numerous blue chip clients. In her new role, she'll be designing and developing business and communication solutions that drive client campaigns and business growth. Focusing on consumer, brand marketing communications and technology PR, she will also supervise all operations and strategies across the teams in Jakarta, Indonesia and provide senior counsel to local and regional clients on a breadth of communications strategies with key strengths.

Ogilvy Public Relations Indonesia has announced Misty Maitimoe as their new deputy managing director

Maitimoe will be working closely with Ogilvy PR Indonesia managing director Marianne Admardatine, who is “Pleased to have Misty as part of the family.” She adds that the firm has “Enjoyed a consistent high growth these past few years,” and have also managed to increase their “Strength and width of business knowledge.” Admardatine want's the agency to continue to strengthen it's senior talent and skill-set, and believes that Maitimoe will “Complement the existing seniors skills “ that they already have.

 

Grey EMEA

Grey EMEA has announced that chief strategy officer Lucy Jameson is replacing Chris Hirst as CEO at Grey London, a change that will be effective immediately. David Patton, President and CEO of Grey EMEA said that he “Cannot be more proud of what Grey London has achieved over the last seven years,” by building a “World-class reputation for producing amazing work.” He calls Grey the “Most creative and effective agency in the UK, and believes that, whilst “Chris has been instrumental in this success, it was a very easy decision to appoint Lucy” as the new CEO. He feels that Jameson will “Not only ensure that Grey continues on its incredible journey but will take the agency to new heights,” taking Grey London “From strength to strength.”

The departing Hirst commented, “It’s been an amazing 12 years at Grey London” and is proud of what he's achieved. He'll “Miss a deeply talented team of people, particularly Nils and Lucy,” whom I hopes will lead the agency onto even greater things. Nils Leonard, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Grey London adds that “Lucy embodies the energy that makes Grey London so different,” and that she “Makes everyone around her raise their game.” He “Can’t wait to partner Lucy in taking Grey London to the next level.”

 

M&C Saatchi

M&C Saatchi has announced the promotion of Camilla Kemp to the newly created role of chief operating office, and Clare Willetts to Kemp's former position of managing partner. Kemp will work alongside CEO Tom Bazeley, focusing on streamlining the agency’s processes, and overseeing its finance. She'll also continue to manage the Boots and Network Rail accounts, among others, while contributing towards new business. Kemp joined M&C Saatchi in 2010, and has made a significant mark over the last four years by winning pitches for the Boots digital and the Blue Cross integrated accounts, being recognised by Management Today in its “35 Under 35” feature last year, and overseeing the integration of Lean Mean Fighting Machine into M&C Saatchi. Willetts, who is promoted from the role of business director, will work alongside fellow managing partner Ed Palmer. Reporting to Bazeley, she'll oversee the integrated Blue Cross and Doddle accounts, as well as initiatives for Douwe Egberts among others.

Bazeley said that the M&C Saatchi team believe a “Smaller, tight-knit management team with clear responsibilities for each element of the agency's output is essential.” He hopes that having Kemp in the new position of COO, “Will ensure more fluid processes across the agency,” while maintaining the quality of its creative output. Commenting on Willetts, he feels that her “Fundamental belief in the importance of the creative product, combined with her commercial experience,” means that “She’ll help take the agency in the right direction as managing partner.” He's confident that both Kemp and Willetts will “Be instrumental in terms of how the agency evolves in 2015 and beyond.” The double promotion comes following an exhaustive restructuring of the creative department at M&C Saatchi, which saw Mark Goodwin, Jason Lawes, Sam Ball and Dave Bedwood take joint creative leadership, and Grant Parker named as head of art.
