Boutique Los Angeles creative agency Omelet announced recently that Shannon McGlothin has been signed as the shop's group creative director. McGlothin, who is a veteran of the industry with time spent at several prominent agencies, will be leading creative efforts for the company's client roster, which includes such huge brands as HBO, Walmart, Moet & Chandon, Sony and Coca-Cola.

Though he only just joined the team, McGlothin has already been a lead on several key endeavours, including global and integrated campaigns for Microsoft as well as upcoming work for Red Bull. McGlothin will be reporting to partner and chief creative officer Sarah Anderson, who believes that McGlothin is “An outstanding addition to Omelet’s creative leadership.” She feels that with his “Background in creating award-winning global campaigns along with his passion for visual storytelling,” he will be a “Powerful addition” to the team and a key player as it “Continues evolving into the future.”

Samsung – The Developer

McGlothin has 15 years of experience in the industry, overseeing strategic and creative engagements at agencies like Wieden + Kennedy and Crispin Porter + Bogusky. His most recent post, however, was at Leo Burnett, where he served as global executive creative director on their Samsung account, running a new hub created to cater solely to the electronics giant's business. As well as working with Samsung, McGlothin has also worked with blue-chip brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike, The GAP and Electronic Arts, and has earned top awards at the Canes Lions, CLIO, D&AD, and The One Show. One of the most notable ads he worked on for Leo Burnett was last year's football-related “The Developer” spot for Samsung's Galaxy Note 3. The ad (which you can watch above) envisioned a contemporary version of “Les Miserables,” with all the actors replaced by kids singing Lorde's “Royals” and an oddly CGI looking Lionel Messi.

The man himself is delighted to touch down at Omelet after a spell in the wilderness following his departure from Leo Burnett last year. He says that “Omelet’s work has and continues to push the boundaries on bold ideas,” and he's “Excited for the opportunity to contribute to that success and work alongside some really creatively-motivated people.”
