DigitasLBi bring the National Trust bang up to date and make a major promotion

Published by

National Trust, the independent charity which looks after places of historic interest or natural beauty for the benefit of the nation, has launched a new digital platform in partnership with DigitasLBi. The agency used their blended team of creative, strategy, technology and user experience experts to collaborate with the National Trust on a new, more responsive website that aims to show how the National Trust helps to preserve the UK’s natural heritage for everyone. The platform was also developed with input from partner agencies Nomensa and Manifesto.

The new digital platform is fully-responsive and highly-flexible, enabling staff and volunteers across the National Trust’s 550+ places to tell engaging stories about the conservation work they’re doing, in a variety of media (from rich imagery to interactive timelines). The National Trust also launched a new mobile app for visitors, created in partnership with DigitasLBi, in July of this year. The app marked the first activity to launch since National Trust appointed DigitasLBi as its strategic digital agency partner following a competitive pitch last year.

Tom Barker, Head of Digital at the National Trust, said: “From the smallest property right up to some of the UK’s largest visitor attractions, we really do rely on our visitors, members, volunteers and supporters to deliver our promise of ‘forever, for everyone’. This elegantly-designed new digital platform will enable people to use our websites on the mobile devices that already drive more than half our online traffic.”

Helen Fuchs, Creative Director at DigitasLBi, added: “The National Trust are unique in the breadth of amazing stories they have to tell, and in the number of passionate supporters they have across the country able to tell them. It was important for us to us to create a design system that allowed volunteers and employees to share these stories in a variety of inspiring ways. The places they look after are the stars of the show; we wanted to create a site experience that reflected the modern and relevant outlook of the National Trust.”

In his new role, Steward will continue to report in to Michael Islip, who was promoted to the role of Chief Executive, UK at DigitasLBi earlier this year. Islip said of Steward's promotion: “We're super excited about Matt taking on this new role.
