Looking first at the Innovation programme's dedication to exploring the role of data and technology at the catalyst for ideas, Quantcast CEO Konrad Delfman and The Drum Works MD Justin Pearse will be assisting former F1 star David Coulthard in a talk called “Changing the Formula,” which will demonstrate how data is now as much of an input into ideas as it is an output of them. AKQA's Ben Jones and Nike's Chris Satchel will also join together as fellow chief technology officers to present “The CTO Exposed: What it Takes to Create Remarkable Products,” in which they'll be sharing how technology can transform brands. Finally, CP+B chairman Chuck Porter and chief digital officer Ivan Perez-Armandariz, will join Domino's Pizza's VP of advertising Karen Kaiser to discuss the fast-food chain's successes in online ordering and how technology and data has helped them to resonate with consumers and culture in “Philosophies on Creativity, Innovation and Why Domino's Works.”

Gender will also be very much on the agenda at the festival, with the gender gap in the technology workforce (where only 17% are female) to be brought to attention by Sarah Wood, co-founder & COO of Unruly, Deirdre McGlashan, global chief digital officer of Mediacom and Kathryn Parsons, co-Founder & Co-CEO of Decoded. In a session called “How the Gender Gap Could Derail the Global Creative Tech Sector,” they will be examining how the innovation gender gap could negatively impact the digital economy, and suggesting how tech companies can better support women in the workplace.

Lions Innovation will be taking place between the 25th and 26th of June

Cannes Lions Chairman, Terry Savage, confirmed that a keynote speech from NASA would also be part of the line-up for the inaugural festival. NASA representatives present at the festival will include Dr. Francesca DeMeo, planetary scientist and Hubble fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics and Jason Kessler, NASA’s asteroid grand challenge program executive. They will be joining mcgarrybowen ECD Tyler DeAngelo on stage for a session Savage believes will epitomise the spirit of the festival. Savage called the Innovation programme a representation of their belief that “Great ideas can come from anywhere,” and to bring it together they looked “Further afield for sources of inspiration than ever before.” He added that “Innovation means venturing away from familiar ground into uncharted territory to create something new and valuable,” before dropping the bombshell by stating that “With its vision to reach for new heights and reveal the unknown in ways that ultimately benefit humankind, there could be no greater embodiment innovation than NASA.”
