BBDO Worldwide takes the big won

Published by

BBDO Worldwide has officially been named the world's most awarded agency network across all marketing communication disciplines after topping the 2014 Directory Big Won, an annual report based on 5,138 pieces of work from 1,667 agencies around the world in 32 award shows. This marks the seventh year in a row that BBDO has topped the report in its eight-year history. This year it beat its closest competitor, Ogilvy, by more than 500 points. In all, 62 BBDO agencies contributed to the network's overall performance, with seven taking top rankings in their respective countries.

Other big scores for the network included Brazil's Almap BBDO taking the number one spot in the Press category and BBDO New York holding the number one spot in Direct Marketing. It wasn't just the network itself that claimed top honours either. David Lubars, BBDO's chief creative officer, was named the joint number 1 CCO in the world for the third time, with Marcello Serpa of Almap BBDO was ranked #3, Ronald Ng of BBDO Singapore #6, Nick Worthington of Colenso BBDO #7, and Greg Hahn of BBDO New York #8. This is just the latest big win for BBDO, which was named as the 2014 Agency of the Year by Adweek magazine last month, and was also recently named the most creative agency network in the world for the eighth year in a row by the Gunn Report. Effie Worldwide also named BBDO the most effective agency network in the world in its annual Effie Effectiveness Index, and Warc ranked BBDO the smartest agency network in the world in its inaugural Warc 100 rankings.

The Directory Big Won is a way for agencies to benchmark their performance against their competitors

Directory Big Won author Patrick Colister, said “The Directory Big Won is a way for agencies to benchmark their performance against their competitors,” and that “To top the report demands that an agency deliver excellence across more than just one campaign and more than just one medium.” He adds that “Today's consumer interacts with media via multiple platforms,” and clearly, with its performance in so many categories, BBDO is “Delivering the best work for its clients above the line, below the line, offline and online.” Andrew Robertson, president and CEO of BBDO Worldwide, said he believes there is a “Proven correlation between work that wins creative awards and work that is exceptionally effective,” so is obviously delighted to receive such an honour.

Dentsu Tokyo, meanwhile, was named as the most creative agency, with Adam&EveDDB London and Leo Burnett São Paulo trailing in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The agency with the most awarded single piece of work, however, was Memac Ogilvy Dubai, which, despite being only the tenth creative agency, took 51 awards for their “Autocomplete Truth” work for UN Women.
