The Warc 100 List reflects the importance of strategic thinking in marketing, showcasing the very best work from across the globe and raising awareness of the leading cases. The rankings this year were based on points accrued through the amount of awards won by over 1,700 winning campaigns in 75 different competitions, including the recent Cannes Lions. Points were assigned based on the level of the awards won (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Grand Prix etc.) and then weighted based on each competition's prestige and 'worth' within the advertising industry.
Louise Ainsworth, Warc's CEO says the idea behind the list is to rank “The best of the best,” and that its purpose is to “Help brands and agencies keep up to date with strategies that have a commercial impact, and to benchmark their own performance against their peers." Andrew Robinson, the president and CEO of BBDO Worldwide believes his network claimed top honours because their work is “Smart, driven by keen insights and fantastic creative execution." He says that BBDO strive to be “The most creative and effective agency in the world because that's what drives business results." Topping the Warc 100 is certainly a good start!
