BBDO name global J&J account chief and Publicis-owned Level Studios name new president

It was announced yesterday that Paul Roebuck will return to BBDO as executive vice president and worldwide senior business director with oversight of the agency’s Johnson & Johnson consumer business at the BBDO headquarters in New York. This is a new role at the agency, which Roebuck will begin serving at the end of October. He had been president and CEO at BBDO Guerrero/Proximity in the Philippines for five years before moving to Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore & Malaysia as CEO in 2011. His role at Saatchi & Saatchi will be filled by Shannon Cullum as of the 1st of September, who will add these new responsibilities to his existing portfolio as CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Indonesia and chief growth officer of Saatchi & Saatchi Asia-Pacific.

Before he joined BBDO Guerrero, the 40-year old Roebuck served as chief operating officer at Saatchi & Saatchi Jakarta and regional account director and strategic planning director at Saatchi Kuala Lumpur. He's also worked on the client side of the industry as marketing manager for stout and ales for Guinness in Africa. Andrew Robertson, BBDO's global CEO, said Roebuck did a fantastic job at Guerrero and helped the agency “Punch way above it's weight.” He said that both he and CEO of BBDO Asia, Middle East and Africa, Chris Thomas “Have wanted to get him back since he left three years ago.” He adds that Roebuck has “Excellent CPG experience, experience, knowledge, maturity, and a global perspective which will be incredibly important on all Johnson & Johnson brands but especially Johnson & Johnson Baby which has a big focus globally and is a big opportunity."

In another industry move, which is set to catalyse rapid growth and talent expansion, Level Studios, the global, Publicis Groupe digital marketing agency, announced yesterday that Dan Connolly has been promoted to President after a year serving as partner since the agency separated from Rosetta. In this new role, Connolly will be in charge of all units within the agency, including customer intelligence, technology, creative, talent and finance. Level is based in San Jose, California, but also has offices in the United Kingdom and across the rest of California where over 125 digital marketing experts are employed.

Jean-Yves Naouri, chief operating officer of the Publicis Groupe, said that Connolly “Has played an integral part in establishing LEVEL Studios as a preeminent digital agency,” and believes that he “Clearly possesses the right mix of leadership experience and business acumen to chart an era of accelerated expansion." The promotion occurs amidst a major hiring spree at the agency, and with more than 50 open positions, they are still actively seeking skilled creatives, technologists and client service representatives to service its growing client list. Connolly himself, meanwhile, feels that Level are uniquely positioned within the Publicis Groupe to “Enter into a phase of rapid growth, both domestically and abroad,” which will allow them to expand their roster of clients and attract experienced creative talent. He says “Level's future is a bright one,” and he is “Honoured to assume the leadership role."
